Talk:Swiss Labour Party
From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
[edit] Requested move
- The page ought to be moved back due to two reasons: 1. It is a more direct translation of the party name (exact to French and Italian versions of the name, and approximately that of the German) 2. There is a political difference between "Labour Party" and "Party of Labour". The former is associated with Social Democracy (British Labour Party, Norwegian Labour Party, etc.), whereas the latter is associated with the communist tradition (eg. Albanian Party of Labour).

- Oppose - I'm not satisfied with the reasoning that it shouldn't be at "Swiss Workers' Party" which is how the article originally refered to it as. -- Joolz 16:24, 14 May 2005 (UTC)
It was requested that this article be renamed but there was no consensus for it be moved. This requires further discussion about the naming. violet/riga (t) 12:19, 15 May 2005 (UTC)
[edit] Discussion
In the first line of the article it get's called the "Swiss Worker's Party", what's with that? -- Joolz 14:41, 12 May 2005 (UTC)
- Soman changed it after this comment. "Swiss Workers' Party" also gets more google hits. I don't want to delay this much longer but am thinking that name might be the best (though I know nothing about this party). violet/riga (t) 14:59, 14 May 2005 (UTC)
- Again the google-search quantification has its limits. I repeat my argument that 'Party of Labour' is the correct name both since it places the party within its historical and political context (as part of the communist tradition) and since it is the most exact direct translation of the name. --Soman 16:12, 14 May 2005 (UTC)
