[edit] Plot summary
Spoiler warning: Plot and/or ending details follow.
Lucy Szabo, a 16-year old diabetic, has lived with her disease ever since she was bitten by a bat years ago. However, she has a theory on her condition: centuries ago, when diabetes was not recognized as a disease and insulin did not exist, the suffering diabetics were the first actual vampires.
However, her life begins to unravel, as her blood sugar becomes unregulated, she meets a man on a Goth forum site who says he is a vampire, and her relationships decline. Lucy soon has to figure out her choices in life... or suffer the consequences.
[edit] Trivia
- Lucy's theory is based on Hautman's own ideas on diabetes and vampirism which he first wrote down in 1978. [1]
- Hautman himself has type 1 diabetes. [2]
- Many vampire forums actually exist.
