Swansea Philharmonic Choir

The Swansea Philharmonic Choir [1] is a mixed Choir based in Swansea, Wales with just under 100 members.
The Choir was founded in 1959 by Haydn James with the aim of raising the standard of choral singing in Wales and performing less familiar music as well as choral classics.
The Choir's wide repertoire covers music from the Baroque to the present day, including the works of British composers, such as Vaughan Williams, Britten and Elgar.
The Choir also aims to ensure that Welsh audiences have an opportunity to hear the works of Daniel Jones, Hoddinott , Mathias and Karl Jenkins.
Performances are given regulary in the Brangwyn Hall and St Mary's Church, Swansea.
In March 2007 the Choir gave a performance of Carmina Burana by Carl Orff, as well as the world première of Cities of Dreams a work commissioned by Choir and composed by Swansea born composer Stephen McNeff.
