A swamp is a wetland that features permanent inundation of large areas of land by shallow bodies of water vegetated with woody plants (trees and shrubs).

- The Swamp, nickname (est. 1972) for the subordinate male officer surgical staff quarters tent in M*A*S*H that Hawkeye Pierce, Trapper John McIntyre, Frank Burns, Major Charles Emerson Winchester III, B.J. Hunnicutt and Spearchucker Jones live in.
- The Swamp, nickname (est. 1988) of Cajun Field at the University of Louisiana at Lafayette, home of the Ragin' Cajuns® football team. The Swamp is also a casual reference to Cypress Lake in the heart of the Louisiana-Lafayette campus.
