Svatopluk II

Svatopluk II (-modern Czech name, modern Slovak name: Svätopluk II, for name alternatives see Svatopluk I, born ?, died 906?) was the Prince of the Principality of Nitra from 894 to 906.

He was younger son of Svatopluk I. His older brother, Mojmír II, who was King of Great Moravia and he signed peace treaty in 894 with Arnulf of Carinthia, King of Eastern Francia. But Svatopluk II rebelled against his brother's rule, with its top reaching in the winter 898/899, when the Bavarian troops came to Great Moravia, and although they were defeated by the troops of Mojmír II, and he even captured Svatopluk II, the Bavarians managed to rescue him and took him to Germany. In 901, he returned to the Principality of Nitra. He died in 906 during the times of intense warfare with the Magyars.
