Svatantrya

From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Svatantrya means liberty, autonomy, spontaneity.

Svatantrya represents an important quality for an aspirant yogi. According to Yoga Shika Upanishad, Svatantrya is essential in the obtaining of the extraordinary accomplishments on the spiritual path and the attainment of perfection siddhi. On the other hand, the yogi who has not yet obtained the supreme accomplishment on the spiritual path must not yet be so autonomous as to ignore the indications received from his guru.

In the Kashmir Shaivism, Svatantrya is the transcendent absolutely free will of the Supreme Creator, Paramasiva.
