The Suzuki XL-7 is Suzuki's mid-size SUV, launched in 2001.
[edit] First generation
The first-generation XL-7 was a Suzuki design and was essentially a stretched Grand Vitara. It had a Suzuki designed 2.7 liter V6 on a rear wheel drive-based platform with optional four wheel drive. When introduced, the XL-7 was the least expensive SUV available with 3-row seating in North America.
[edit] Second generation
The 2007 XL7 debuted on April 13, 2006 at the New York Auto Show. The design shifts to the larger front wheel drive-based Theta platform and will be built alongside the Chevrolet Equinox and Pontiac Torrent at CAMI Automotive in Ingersoll, Ontario, Canada. This iteration becomes Suzuki's first crossover SUV sold in North America. It features a Suzuki-built version of the GM High Feature engine, a DOHC 3.6 liter V6 which produces 252hp and has a five-speed automatic transmission. The New XL-7 was meant to be a family veicle, whether from driving for cross country road trips, or whether camping adventures, the Xl-7 has dropped some of its off-road capabilities. The Xl-7 is no longer meant for heavy duty off roading, however it can handle some off road trails, thus it idrops its low rang transfer case, and now has automatic all wheel drive. People have gotten the open eye look at the XL-7, as for it stands out looking somewhat exotic.
