Suzanne Roberts Theater

From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

The Suzanne Roberts Theater is the newest home of the Philadelphia Theatre Company. It is named after Suzanne Roberts, an 86-year old former actress, who is currently the host of the Comcast program, "Seeking Solutions with Suzanne," which airs three times a day on CNN Headline News.

The company broke ground for the building on February 1, 2006. The new theater will offer artistically enhanced productions of the new American plays and musicals on which the Company’s mission is based. Equally important, it will allow Philadelphia Theatre Company to expand its educational and outreach programs that serve thousands of school children each year.

A resident performer in the Plays and Players Theatre since 1982, Philadelphia Theatre Company will open its 2007/2008 season in the new venue in the fall of 2007. Philadelphia Theatre Company’s first year in the Suzanne Roberts Theater will also mark the company’s 32nd anniversary.

The theater was designed by KieranTimberlake Associates, LLP using the principles of Universal Design.
