Suzanne Devlin

Suzanne Devlin is a minor character in the Sweet Valley High book series.

Suzanne was the daughter of Tom and Felicia Devlin; Tom was an ambassador, while Felicia was a socialite. The Devlin family resided in New York City.

Suzanne first appeared in SVH#11, "Too Good to Be True", and she entered the Wakefields life after Tom and Ned Wakefield, old college roommates, decided to have their daughters visit each other's households for a week. Jessica was the twin eventually chosen to go to New York, while Elizabeth stayed behind in Sweet Valley to act as host to Suzanne.

Initially, Suzanne seemed too good to be true; gorgeous, sweet and intelligent. Half the boys in Sweet Valley fell for her, and she and Liz became good friends. However, Liz soon began to notice inconsistencies in her new friends behavior and then her lavaliere went missing...

Suzanne had set her sights on Roger Collins, the handsome English teacher, and volunteered to baby-sit his son as part of her plan to seduce him. When her advances were rebuked, she callously claimed that Mr Collins had tried to rape her.

Liz was torn between her new friend and her favorite teacher. However, she discovered Suzanne's treachery when she found her missing necklace in Suzanne's suitcase. Things climaxed at Lila Fowler's birthday party, after Suzanne raged at Winston Egbert, who had spilled a cup of punch on her dress, and everyone finally saw what she was really like.

Months later, Suzanne returned to Sweet Valley, more contrite and very apologetic. Nobody believed her, or was willing to accept her apologies, especially Jessica, who was looking out for her sister's welfare. They soon discovered the reason behind her change of attitude; Suzanne had been diagnosed with multiple sclerosis, a disease which had killed her grandmother and aunt. Fortunately, it was later revealed that she had been misdiagnosed and that really had mononucleosis.

Todd Wilkins, Elizabeth's ex boyfriend, was by her side throughout this hard time. The two had met at a ski resort near his Burlington home and were dating.

The second visit solidified Elizabeth and Suzanne's friendship, and they eventually became close.
