Survivor is the third album released by female R&B trio Destiny's Child on May 1, 2001. Two of its singles, "Bootylicious" and "Independent Woman Part I", reached #1 on the U.S. Billboard Hot 100 singles chart while the title-track "Survivor" peaked at #2. Former member, Farrah Franklin, appears on International version of Survivor, on the track "Dance With Me" and "Independent Woman,Pt. 1" as background vocals along with Michelle and Kelly.

Survivor debuted at number one on the Billboard 200 and the Top R&B/Hip-Hop Albums chart selling over 663,000 copies in its first week, generating the highest opening week sales ever by a girl group and the largest first week in the history of Columbia Records. Within two months of its release the album was certified Triple platinum by the RIAA in recognition of three million sales in the United States. The album was the seventh best-selling album of 2001 selling over 3.72 million copies during the year according to Nielsen SoundScan, it was certified 4x platinum on January 4, 2002, and has sold 4.3 million copies in the U.S. to date according to SoundScan and over 440,000 copies through music club sales. It spent fourteen weeks in the top ten and forty six weeks on the Billboard 200, less than half the amount of time The Writing's on the Wall spent on the charts.
Survivor debuted at number one in nine other countries including the United Kingdom, Canada, the Netherlands and Ireland. Worldwide the album sold a staggering 5 million copies in its first five weeks, and while in the U.S. it didn't perform as well as The Writing's on the Wall worldwide it matched its success and even surpassed it in some countries. In Europe the album was certified 2x platinum in recognition of 2 million albums sold across the continent. In Canada Survivor was certified 4x platinum (400,000 sales) in October, 2003, in South Africa and the United Kingdom it was certified 3x platinum and in Australia, 2x platinum.
In Canada, Survivor debuted at Number one selling over 31,000 copies in its first week, and remain at the top for 4 non-consecutuve weeks, it was finally certified Diamond in October, 2003. "Survivor" has sold a staggering 16.8 million copies worldwide.

Survivor proved to be a huge hit for the group. It hit number 1 on the Billboard 200 album chart for 2 weeks and has been certified 4x platinum. The album also reached #1 on the UK Albums Chart for 4 weeks, where it would eventually go on to sell 1,023,000 copies, Canada, Ireland, the Netherlands, Germany, Norway, Austria, Belgium, and Switzerland. It landed in the top 10 in Poland, Sweden, Japan, France, Italy, and Finland. To date the album has sold in excess of 10 million copies worldwide.
