Survey of Health, Ageing and Retirement in Europe

SHARE (Survey of Health, Ageing and Retirement in Europe) is coordinated at the Mannheim Research Institute for the Economics of Aging. It is studying health, socio-economic status and social and family networks of Europeans 50 or over. For the first wave in 2004 11 countries contributed: Denmark, Sweden, Austria, France, Germany, Switzerland, Belgium, the Netherlands, Spain, Italy and Greece Data has also been collected in Israel. In the first wave (2004) the SHARE project was funded by the European Commission (project QLK6-CT-2001) and the U.S. National Institute on Aging (U01AAG09740-13S2, P01 AG005842, P01 AG12815, Y1-AG-4553-01 and OGHA 04-064). The Austrian Science Fund, the Belgian Science Policy Office and the Swiss Federal Office of Education and Science also contributed.
