[edit] What the?
Hey. Ace here. Jamdav, you're a good Wikipedian. Let me just say that off the bat. However, this template sicks. I've seen it actually implemented in articles recently by MJ the Prophet (talk • contribs). No good, man. No good. For starters, it's just text. Only dab notices get away with that. Any sort of real cleanup/warning/etc. template needs a box around the text among other things. Then there's the actual usage. What purpose does this serve? When I felt the need, I added a superherobox to Blue Devil personally. And frankly, that "need" is subjective. Is there some guideline or policy that says articles need SHBs? I mean, as well intentioned as this might be, when I see it actually in use, it stinks. Sorry. Ace Class Shadow; My talk. 19:31, 14 December 2006 (UTC)
- Per some discussion on my talk page, I'm going to hold off on adding this to any further articles. However, as I mentioned, I feel that the character box is a good addition to a character article. Besides, it gives people like me, who don't know much about comics but like to help make the articles better, something to do. :) I'll grant, there are a lot of out there that may not seem to warrant a character box; even some more complete articles are on very minor characters. But info boxes are part of wikification, and putting in character boxes would move Project Comics closer to its stated goal of being the best comics reference possible. I'm all for anything that's well-intentioned being used to best advantage. Jamdav, maybe you could get a more noticeable, better-looking template up? MJ the Prophet 20:12, 14 December 2006 (UTC)
- Okay. I fixed it up a bit. Tell me what you think. Ace Class Shadow; My talk. 21:08, 14 December 2006 (UTC)
- Nicely done! That looks a bit more like a note that something needs to be added. I'll take a look at some of the articles I've added it to, see how it looks there. It's been suggested on my talk page that I simply add the info box, even sans info. I want to test and see how that looks. My first instinct is that it will look a little silly, but I haven't checked. Also, I'm still leaning towards the template, since that lets more people than our little circle know that there's work to do. But, we'll see. MJ the Prophet 12:41, 15 December 2006 (UTC)
- The more I look at it, the more I agree with Ace. Kind of odd that I brought it to the attention of others, and now I'm starting to question using the template. As I go through, I'm starting to feel that it might be a good idea to keep the category, so we've got a list of what needs done, but simply add the Template:Wikify template to the articles if we feel it's necessary. - Well, I've been adding the character boxes lately, and it seems to me that it's more time-consuming, but easier than I thought. A number, IMHO, look pretty complete; of course, that's only because all the information was already in the article. I'll probably go through the current entries in the category (which, sadly, I had put there), then come back and see if there's a different consensus on what to do with the template. If it's still here and has possible been revised and agreed on, I'll go add it to some more articles to give me another list to work on. Otherwise, I'll just add character boxes where I see need. [edit] Category link
Is there a particular reason why the automatic category link was severed? — J Greb 11:59, 15 December 2006 (UTC)
Sorry. That happened in the reformatting. My mistake. Ace Class Shadow; My talk. 18:30, 15 December 2006 (UTC)
