[edit] Confirmed Characters
The E3 trailer [1] (which announced the game) showed nine characters for Brawl:
- Mario, the main character of the Super Mario Bros. series.
- Link, the hero of the Legend of Zelda series.
- Pikachu, the mascot of the Pokémon series.
- Kirby, the main character of the Kirby series.
- Samus Aran and her alternate form, Zero-Suit Samus, heroine of the Metroid series.
- Meta Knight, of the Kirby series.
- Pit, the hero from Kid Icarus.
- Wario, Mario's rival and star of the WarioWare, Inc. and Wario Land series.
- Solid Snake, the main character from Konami's Metal Gear series.
At the Nintendo World Event, an additional character was revealed. [2]
- Fox McCloud, the main character of the Star Fox series.
So far, no additional characters have been confirmed (or rejected) by official sources. The main page for Brawl should only contain confirmed characters, despite the fact that some characters, such as Donkey Kong, are virtually assumed to be in the game.
Please note that the supposed appeareances of Ridley, Bowser Jr., and Wind Waker Link and the supposed removal of Ice Climbers, Mr. Game & Watch, and Young Link are not confirmed, as the news item from which this comes is a hoax.
[edit] I Want Character/Stage/Item/Etc. to be in Brawl!
Q: I want this character/stage/item/etc. to be in Brawl! I write it down on the Wikipedia article of the game but it always gets deleted. What am I doing wrong?
- It is great that you care so much about Brawl but, you cannot add your suggestions into the actual article. You may only post facts about the game in the article of Brawl. However, you can write your suggestions freely in your User Page.
[edit] Super Smash Bros. Dojo!!
Q: What is this about "Super Smash Bros. Dojo!!?" Has the game been renamed?
- Super Smash Bros. Dojo!! is the name of the official website [3] of the makers of all three Super Smash Bros. games. The game is still set to be titled Super Smash Bros. Brawl.
[edit] Online play
Q: Will SSBB feature online play? And if so, for how many characters?
- Brawl will use the Wii's Wi-Fi capabilities for online play.[4] Online capability, in fact, is "a primary reason why Super Smash Bros. Brawl was created." [5] There is still no official word on the maximum number of players supported in online play.
[edit] Zero Suit Samus
Q: Is Samus getting replaced in Brawl by a blue-clad Power Suit-less version of herself?
- Nope; Samus simply has a new form: Zero Suit Samus. Samus will transform into Zero Suit Samus under certain conditions, [6] but it is unknown what is meant by "certain conditions."
Q: What do you mean you don't know what "certain conditions" means? It's clearly this/that/the other thing.
- Please keep in mind that English is a second language for the person who wrote that. Even if that wasn't the case, "certain conditons" may imply this/that/the other thing, but it doesn't state anything as fact.
Q: If both Samus and Zero Suit Samus are in the game, how will they be different?
- Regular/Power Suit Samus has more power and defense, and tends to use her Power Shot as a gun. Zero Suit Samus has more speed, and tends to use her Power Shot as a whip. Also, it is likely that the two will have different special moves (much like Zelda and Shiek from Super Smash Bros. Melee.)
[edit] Developer
Q: Who is developing Brawl?
- The developer is not confirmed yet. There are signs that imply that the developer is Sora, but nothing has been confirmed yet. HAL, Sora, and Nintendo have all been cited as developers at different times. It's quite the mess.
[edit] Kid Icarus
Q: How do you pronounce "Kid Icarus"? Is it "Kid Ica-roos" or "Kid I-CAR-us"...or neither?
- The character's actual name is Pit, but he is often called "Kid Icarus", the latter being the name of the series of games he starred in. Pronunciation is generally accepted to be either "Í-ka-ros" (the original Latin/Greek version) or "I-ca-rus", the predominant Anglicized version.
[edit] Release Date
Q: I've heard from Best Buy, GameStop, etc that it is going to be released on (insert date here).
- Retail outlets always put in a placeholder date when it's uncertain, the only way to know for sure is to get the information from an official source such as Nintendo's website or a press release. Some game sites also do the same but usually they put in TBA. Otherwise, all dates stated are incorrect and marked as speculation. Wait for an official announcement from Nintendo and/or the Smash Bros. Dojo site. Currently it's just 2007.
[edit] Possible Characters List
Q: Shouldn't there be a list of possible characters to be included, so long as they are actually likely to appear?.
- No. Wikipedia is not for speculation. There are characters who are likely to appear (Yoshi, Donkey Kong, Captain Falcon, etc.), but it's been agreed numerous times that the article should only contain confirmed characters (see "Confirmed Characters"), regardless of possibilities. Sonic the Hedgehog is only expressed in the article because even Nintendo has brought him up.
