[edit] Great work!

Fanstastic work on this collaboration. You guys have done well: I'm impressed! - Ta bu shi da yu 13:18, 12 Dec 2004 (UTC)

[edit] "Super Mario 64x4"

Considering that at the time of it's display at E3, it had not been released, Nintendo referring to it as "Super Mario 64x4" is the definition of a working title. Had it been released under one name, then they changed the name on later copies, that would be "formerly known as", but that is not the case here. I would strongly suggest changing it back to "working title". --Tubedogg 05:24, 25 Dec 2004 (UTC)

It doesn't really make much of a difference whether it's listed as "formerly known as" or "working title". As long as it's there, they both mean the same thing. "working title" is probably more correct, but either should be fine. It was called Super Mario 64x4 for a long time, and if I remember right, wasn't always destined to be a full remake, so I don't know. I'm glad I'm so helpful. :) Cookiecaper 05:32, 25 Dec 2004 (UTC)

The switch from 64x4 to 64 DS happened at the same time as the enhanced single-player mode and touch-screen minigames were announced. This makes me think that the name change was because of these additions, making "working title" more suitable. -- Oogischloink 05:58, 25 Dec 2004 (UTC)

[edit] Ratings

I added the Australia release date, and the ratings for all the releases Source. --ThrashedParanoid 00:09, 27 December 2005 (UTC)

[edit] Vandalism

Apparently, a user named Vrray9000@yahoo has vandalized the box art image. It has the "F word" and the letters "X and P" as well as some scribbles painted on it with a paint application, and the ESRB rating icon has been edited to show an "M" rating instead of an "E" rating, the game's actual rating. The image should be reverted to its previous form.

I'm sorry for forgetting to leave a date. I uploaded the previous version of the box art about thirty minutes ago. - 05:37, 22 February 2006 (UTC)

Did someone lock it or something? (Plainnym 02:07, 21 May 2006 (UTC))

It is 6:59 January 16. I found someone who wrote a section for characters that says "YOU SUCK I HATE YOU". It was vandalized twice. I think this page should be protected. I think it should be protected, to.Isyou 03:05, 19 January 2007 (UTC)

[edit] Star restrictions

I deleted this sentence:

Two stars are restricted to Yoshi, eighteen stars are restricted to Mario, fifteen stars are restricted to Luigi, and thirteen stars are restricted to Wario.

because it literally can't be correct. A star being restricted to a character means only that character can get it, so the total stars restricted to individual characters can't exceed 30. Only the number for Yoshi is realistic; for the others it sounds like they meant "Mario can acquire 18 of the stars, Luigi can acquire 15, and Wario can acquire 13."

It would take someone with the game to correct this -- either by changing Yoshi's number and the text, or by changing the other three's numbers -- so I've moved it here. SFT | Talk 12:13, 24 February 2006 (UTC)

Why can the number of exclusive stars not exeed thirty? As far as I can tell, it IS correct, there are 2 stars which only Yoshi can get, 18 stars which only Mario can get, 15 stars which only Luigi can get and 13 stars which only Wario can get. The remaining 102 can be obtained with more than one character. The- 21:29, 8 March 2006 (UTC)
I see now that I was assuming too much. I was assuming that in Mario 64 DS, the original 120 stars are in the same places, and that Mario can collect all of them (as he can in Mario 64). But even then, yes, these numbers are possible. If they're correct, and if my assumptions were correct, then it means that Mario is unable to collect any of the 30 new stars. Is that correct? SFT | Talk 07:14, 11 March 2006 (UTC)
nope.some of the stars have benn renamed, some have been deleted.
This is going around in circles. Let's just say that the powers Mario utilized in the original are divided among the new ones. Mario needs, for example, Luigi to do something he could've done himself in the original.Killbrain1 13:09, 20 September 2006 (UTC)

I am now working on exactly how many stars can be acquired with only Mario and Yoshi available. Stars so far: 125. However, with a walk underwater glitch in dire dire docks, I believe an additional power star can be attained. (using caps of another character counts, as long as they're not unlocked, right?) Xparasite9 00:17, 7 October 2006 (UTC)

Anybody ever heard the story about original research and Wikipedia? They don't go. This is OR because nothing has ever been confirmed as fact by any of the related companies. In other words, Nintendo. Cipher (Yell) 20:05, 6 December 2006 (UTC)

i belive in the star thing, but i collected 149 stars... there was one star i could not get, and i never heard of a bowser's secret slide, but what about the canon outide the castle near that pond, and what about that opening in the castle wall seen on the select scrren for adventure mode... can that be used to obtain a secret star?

[edit] Sorry About the Multiple Edits

Sorry about the multiple edits in a row that I made. I'm new to Wikipedia editing and I am learning the Wikipedia markup as I edit.

You don't have to apologize, as long as you don't pointlessly flood the article's history. Also, use four tidles or we don't know who you are.Killbrain1 12:10, 8 October 2006 (UTC)

[edit] Development

What's up with the first paragraph of the development section? The talk of it being bundled with the DS doesn't seem fitting to the topic (a Release section, maybe?), and the completely random second and third sentences confuse me with the sudden change of topic.

Also, was it ever explained why the co-operative multi-player in the main game was removed and replaced with that star collecting game? I'd be interested to know. --Ragey 23:45, 4 June 2006 (UTC)

[edit] I think I found the black box

At the file select screen, look at the top screen and look to the right. I think you'll see it. How can I take a very clear picture of it? (Plainnym 15:51, 9 June 2006 (UTC))

Try taking the picture in a dark room with no flash on. --CJ 02:19, 29 June 2006 (UTC)

What's a flash? --Plainnym 13:53, 29 June 2006 (UTC)

Oh, oh ooooooooooohhh! I'm really stupid! I forgot what it meant! Did anyone else see the black box? --64.72.59.179 13:15, 1 July 2006 (UTC)

I see the black box it is to the right on the castle but isnt there in normal gameplay i asume that finding waluigi in the black box is a big fat hoax! I can take a photo of it later on! --rampaging rhyno 14:35 18 july 2006 (UTC)

I see it. It may have been am extra level the developers wanted to put in. But it was removed in the final version. Then they left a small reference to the level. Frankyboy5 14:44, 16 August 2006 (UTC)

Hmmm...just thinking...could it be possible to enter into the illusionary wall with invisible Luigi? I mean, Nintendo doesn't just litter their scrapped concepts around the game. Except in Ocarina of Time. Also, maybe the glass art above the main entrance is worth checking. And scouring the lake as Metal Wario.Killbrain1 16:17, 18 September 2006 (UTC)

[edit] "Castles in the Sky" Bonus Level

--70.228.181.102 17:25, 27 June 2006 (UTC)Could someone help me figure out if a secret level exists? I keep seeing a cheat that if you go to the Castles in the Sky level and long jump into the flower bed, you'll be taken to a box and by hitting the box, that'll take you to a bonus level...

82.60.173.242 16:47, 8 September 2006 (UTC)What IS the "Castles in the Sky level"? Is it the one in Rinbow Ride, or the tower of the Wing Cap?

There is no "Castles in the Sky" level. The one with the switch is called the "? switch" level and the other one is "Over the Rainbows". Must be a translation from the japanese version...but definitely not a hoax. I've seen a video of it. Can somebody help us out? Killbrain1 14:23, 13 September 2006 (UTC)

Yes, could someone? I'm desperate to try out this rumor, but I need to know what Castles in the Sky is. RememberMe? 18:36, 5 October 2006 (UTC)

I have a thoery castles in the sky is the roof long jump into one of the flower bed and that black box in the menu might be the box you hit —The preceding unsigned comment was added by 72.187.128.146 (talk • contribs).

I think it may be Whomp's Fortress because it has flower beds and it takes place in the sky. It is also a fortress. Frankyboy5 00:49, 24 February 2007 (UTC)

[edit] waluigi rumor

in the trivia section under the waluigi rumor it says that luigi was found to be in super mario bros 64, which he never officially was.

It also says that Waluigi being in the game is confirmed, thats a lie, right?

[edit] Jen Taylor voicing toad???

There is no toad in the game that has a real voice. Unless it's only the one squeak you hear in the minigame Bob-omb Squad when bob-ombs hit a flower. Frankyboy5 05:37, 17 August 2006 (UTC)

[edit] Glitches

Hey,you might wanna include the glitches of it.I know a few to include in the article,if you wanna know...If it's a Game Article, then you might wanna include glitches.Conker The Squirrel 13:58, 31 October 2006 (UTC)

[edit] Article Cleanup

I've just cleaned up the entire article because, frankly, it was awful. This talk page isn't much better, it's being used like a forum by some people. It's not supposed to be, it's against the point of Wikipedia. If anybody else can make some serious changes to this article, please do, because at the moment it really is an embarrassment. Cipher (Yell) 20:10, 6 December 2006 (UTC)

[edit] bowser's secret slide?

is there really a bowser's secret slide? i only collected 149 stars but one is missing... but anyways, is there really a bowser's secret slide?

[edit] Ground Pound

Could someone please tell me how exactly you do the Ground Pound (which buttons to press)? It's annoying me! I'd really like to know, so as I can defeat Whomp and smash the platforms to drain the moat. —The preceding unsigned comment was added by 81.158.2.225 (talk) 12:19, 8 March 2007 (UTC).

You jump, then while in the air press R.
