[edit] Character
Superior Saturday is one of the Seven Trustees chosen by the Architect to help Her do certain things within the House, epicentre of the universe and first Creation of the Architect. When the Architect disappeared, She left behind a Will, stating what was to happen to the Keys to the Kingdom, and with it, the mastery of each demesne of the House. "Into Saturday's trust She placed the care of the Sixth Key, and with it the Mastery of the Upper House, until such time that a suitable heir comes and claims the Key, and with it, the Mastery of the Upper House." It was also stated that Saturday was the most superior Denizen of the Upper House. Defying the Architect, Saturday kept the Sixth Key with the Upper House, and with the help of Lord Sunday, got the other Trustees (called Mister Monday, Grim Tuesday, (Duchess) Drowned Wednesday, Sir Thursday and Lady Friday ) to retain the mastery of the other Keys and demesnes of the House to the other Trustees. She serves directly under Sunday, and is likely the most powerful Denizen (exception of The Old One and Sunday), but not being, in the House. As shown in the first four novels in the series, Saturday was the one doing most of the plotting against Arthur. During Grim Tuesday she ordered the creation of the Skinless Boy (a certain type of Nithling called a Spirit-Eater/Cocigrue) and sent into the Secondary Realm Earth (our world), using its spores to control the minds of Arthur's family and friends and to prevent Arthur from returning to Earth. Her latest move was to order an invasion of the Middle House during the events in Lady Friday. Superior Saturday may suffer from the deadly sin of pride, due to the fact that she calls her self "Lady Saturday, most Superior Denizen of the Upper House". She loves meddling in other people's business, always try to seize power and interferes to complicate situations. Though many are speculating that if Saturday represents pride, then people are asking why Lord Sunday would represent envy.
The recent release of Lady Friday offered the reader a tantalizing clue in the form of a ripped letter stolen by a Raised Rat found in the snow of Friday's Domain :
"For the last time, I do not wish to intervene. Manage affairs in the House as you wish.
It will make little difference in the end."
S.
Due to the cryptic signature, the trace of rainbow Trustee wax, and the sense of aloof superiority, many have speculated that this is in fact a missive to Superior Saturday from Lord Sunday.
The actual book, Superior Saturday, is still yet to come out.
