SuperSkin
From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
"SuperSkin" is the moniker of a long-time fan and season ticket holder of the Washington Redskins, a franchise of the National Football League (NFL). SuperSkin - who does not reveal his true identity to the general public - attends each Redskins home game dressed in a burgundy and gold superhero outfit similar to that of such standard comic book figures as Superman, Flash Gordon, and Spiderman. Self-proclaimed as the "Defender of All That is Burgundy and Gold", SuperSkin has become a recognizable figure at FedEx Field in Landover, Maryland, where the Redskins play their home games. Referencing a concept originated by the Texas A&M college football program, he refers to the 92,000 Redskins fans that fill the stadium on gameday as the "Loudest 12th Man in the NFL." He has stated that his "mission" is to incite the home crowd to cheer as loudly and exhuberantly as possible when the opposing offense is on the field, indirectly assisting the Redskins by inducing false start penalties and miscommunicated audibles. SuperSkin can be seen in several different areas of the stadium on gameday, raising his hands and often waving a towel in an effort to achieve his mission.
