A supernumerary rainbow. The image has been enhanced by dramatically increasing the contrast from the original, but is otherwise untouched.

The supernumerary bows are the repeated green and purple bands just inside the primary bow. In this photograph the supernumerary bows are not very strong, although the fainter outer secondary bow (with the order of colours reversed) was also visible.
