[edit] India, Indian Navy article

The section on Indian military in the India article need to be expanded. This is a main article and hence the Military information need to be precise. Requesting your help in expanding it. Also the Indian Navy article need to be copyedited. Thanking you. Chanakyathegreat 04:17, 1 December 2006 (UTC)

[edit] Scope of India project

Sundar, Have posted this at Nichalp's talk page as well. Need your advise. I am assuming you followed the discussion on WT:INB about adding a pre-independence parameter to the India project banner so that it will represent the Indian-subcontinent. User:Szhaider feels we are claiming the history of South Asia for ourselves. He wants these articles to be under the scope of newly created Wikipedia:WikiProject History of South Asia. He created this project and he is the only member. He is engaging in edit war by removing the India project banners from articles that are tagged as Indian-history related. I would like your advise about how to proceed, should I report this to WP:ANI, or should India project scope be limited to only-post-indepedence articles since this user feels Pakistani Wikipedians will be offended seeing Ashoka Chakra and India project links on the article tag pages (For example: Talk:Taxila). Regards, Ganeshk (talk) 19:58, 1 December 2006 (UTC)

[edit] Re:Werdnabot

I setup the Werdnabot archival for you. I was not sure about the bot parameters. Do edit the page and set the params yourself. Like whether you want unreplied comments to be archived or not. Right now it is set not to archive. When the ArchiveD fills up, you will need to manually set the bot to write to ArchiveE. Regards, Ganeshk (talk) 17:10, 2 December 2006 (UTC)

[edit] Tamil people in FAR

Hello Sundar. Tamil people has been brought to FAR. Please be there and comment. Regards.--Dwaipayan (talk) 15:42, 30 November 2006 (UTC)

I have been copyediting it. I will look into the citation issues as well. Parthi talk/contribs 23:04, 3 December 2006 (UTC)

[edit] Tamil people revert warring

Hi Sundar, hope things are fine with you. I just noticed that there has been a lot of revert warring over some Ayyavazhi issue on this article. Could you take a look? [1]I haven't been a part of it, but I think it needs to be resolved. Thanks. Cribananda 02:47, 9 December 2006 (UTC)

Thanks. I hadn't realized the issue had been discussed extensively already. I went through the discussion. Again, I'm not very sure what position to take myself. While I don't deny it's notable, which articles to include it in is debatable. It seems to me like the people that keep inserting it are here with an agenda, and that doen't help. Anyway, thanks again. Cribananda 07:28, 11 December 2006 (UTC)

[edit] Interwiki bot

Hi! I noticed that you are listed as running an interwiki bot here. If it is still active, and you are editing alphabetically, please visit WikiProject Interwiki, which I created as a project to coordinate the bots to decrease overlap. If you like the idea, sign up there and visit Wikipedia:WikiProject Council/Proposals#Interwiki to let me know you'll join up. You can also say that you're working on a section in User:ST47/WikiProject Interwiki/Assignments, then follow the directions there when you've finished. If the sections I've made are too large, feel free to split one up. Thanks! ST47Talk 11:43, 12 December 2006 (UTC)

[edit] Nayanar

I contacted user:Ganeshk with a request for assistance. He recommended me to come to you. How many articles on Nayanars do you think we have on en-wiki? I have translated two from en to hindi (Tirunavukarassar and Manikkavasagar) and one from hindi to english (Kotpuli). O and it it pronounced Nayanar (last "a" like in murmur) or Nayanaar ("a" as in guitar)? The first option would be "नयनर" and the second "नयनार" in hindi. Guessing by my pronounciation, I have used नयनार (emphasis on last "a") on hindi wiki, but it wont be too hard to change it.KingromT 01:10, 24 December 2006 (UTC)

Its ok I found a site with all 63 [2]. The one issue is pronounciation of the "zh" sound, we speak a highly sanskritized Tamil at home so I dont know that and a few others.KingromT 00:31, 27 December 2006 (UTC)

[edit] Madurai

I saw your name around and about the article on Madurai (a wonderful town) and other Tamil Nadu articles and thought I would drop by to compliment you on your work here. Keep up the good work and happy new year to you. Grace Note 11:12, 1 January 2007 (UTC)

[edit] Dravidian people

Hi Sundar, I know that you are on Wikibreak, but your page says you will be coming back soon. If you have the time an inclination, there is a dispute at Dravidian people (and also Tamil people that could use your mediation skills (if you care to use them). What is needed is a calm voice of reason. Unfortunately some of my buttons have been pushed, and so I may not have the requisite patience to deal with the situation. --BostonMA talk 04:05, 10 January 2007 (UTC)

[edit] Welcome Back!

Hi Sundar. Good to see you coming back. You may be interested in this. Thanks Parthi talk/contribs 20:02, 12 January 2007 (UTC)

[edit] hi

I've kind of hit a stumbling point with the "zh" thing. Do you have a better phonetic pronounciation for that, or even better do you know if you can write it in Hindi? From what I know Kazhagham is clser pronounced to Kayyagam, but I have poor Tamil reading skills.T*E*H Kingrom 16:46, 14 January 2007 (UTC)

Thanks but for right now I'll probably just skip the "zh" people until I better understand the sound. I have 21 pages created and one (Your namesake) will soon be up on Hindi DYK. I'm starting off with stubs built off this template. I'd also like to wish you and your family a happy (though belated) Pongal.T*E*H Kingrom 01:29, 17 January 2007 (UTC)

[edit] Coimbatore

Hello, on your user site I saw that Tamil is your mother tongue. I hope you can help me with my question concerning the Tamil spelling of Coimbatore. In the English Wikipedia, the Tamil name of Coimbatore is given as கோயம்த்தூர் (which translates into Kōyampattūr if I'm not mistaken) while the Tamil Wikipedia says கோயம்புத்தூர் (i.e. Kōyamputtūr). Which name is the correct (or more common) one and why? Thanks in advance for your help! Regards--Young Pioneer 14:40, 27 January 2007 (UTC)

Happy Birthday Sundar! =Nichalp «Talk»= 11:55, 21 February 2007 (UTC)

Happy birth day. Same question as Nichalp.--Dwaipayan (talk) 14:20, 21 February 2007 (UTC)
Hi Sundar. Very Happy Birthday. I remember those wonderful moments in Bangalore on 29th September, 2006 when we met Jimmy and cruising along with you in Bangalore. I am looking forward to meeting you in Chennai during the WikiCamp 2007]. --Bhadani 17:57, 21 February 2007 (UTC)
