IMPORTANT: If you want me to help with any specific articles, leave a note here and I'll reply on your talk page!
Note to all administrators: Please do not mistake me for any other users with "Sun-" prefix in their usernames. Please see my contributions.

My username is taken from my website here.

I am not a sockpuppet of anyone. I did have an account as Bourne End (talk contribs count), but that was merely a one-off account used to report friends at college who were vandalising - they introduced me to Wikipedia, but unlike them I didn't vandalise.

Hi, SunStar Net here. Despite the commercial-sounding name, it is of a fictitious business (note the SunStar, NOT Sunstar!!)
Notice: I am not related to any other users who have the "Sun-" prefix in their usernames.

I'm also on Wikibooks too!

[edit] My history on Wikipedia

Explained for the benefit of all readers I was introduced to Wikipedia in January 2005 by some friends in university.... Wikipedia was considered trendy then, a bit like MySpace is nowadays, a sort of internet fad.

A friend told me about Wikipedia, showed me some of the pages, including the infamous Wikipedia:No original research page - which was appropriate enough, as at the time I was writing an assignment in uni on.... original research! He also showed me such things as votes for deletion (now renamed Articles for Deletion) and Bad Jokes and Other Deleted Nonsense - which, admittedly, was at the time, (and still is now!), popular with university students!!

A few days later, I was at a public terminal, and decided to edit Nissan Pulsar (or Nissan Sunny to us British people!) - it's one of my favourite cars (I'm an automobile geek!), and made some edits anonymously to the article! - [1] (NOTE: The IP address from those particular edits was that of a public terminal, the rest of the edits are not mine, I made very few from that IP anyway.)

I thought Wikipedia was a "novelty site" at the time.... a site you can edit, really!!

Then I returned with an account as Bourne End (talk contribs), but I locked myself out of that one with a long password. I used it having read Wikipedia:Why create an account?. I felt it was better than editing anonymously. I also used it to report on some users who were having fun with the Wayne Rooney article when I was in university, well, I was a single purpose account then (not that I knew that at the time!). The irony was, it was a now indefinitely-blocked user who told me about it.... unlike him, I didn't continue on Wikipedia any further (for now!)

I then disappeared from Wikipedia until March 2006 when I made one anon edit

here (this one was at a public terminal, at a motorway service station!!)

Then I had a project at university that left me little time for Wikipedia (well, editing anyway!), so I disappeared for a year and a half. That project was a website, and that's where my username comes from. Fast forward to October 2006, and I had decided once again, to edit Wikipedia. This time, however, I decided, I would try and make an effort to stay here and not disappear...

Technically, as such, I'm not a new user, but I'm not a sockpuppet of anyone. (people can, and do, lose their login passwords and have to start from scratch. If you're editing from school, college, public terminal or university, well, that way, you're more likely to know about Wikipedia due to the amount of people that view it from those places!)

There you have it, my full history explained, from the horse's mouth!

[edit] Anon edits & an explanation

Info I am not a sockpuppet of anyone. I was taught how to use Wikipedia by some friends of mine. One is now indefinitely blocked, the other doesn't want to edit Wikipedia anymore. It's not meatpuppetry, and not sockpuppetry either. This has to be explained.
This page in a nutshell: Do not confuse me with other users who have "Sun-" in their usernames,

e.g [[[2]
[3]. I am not a sockpuppet of anyone.

Here's all my anonymous edits:

Note: Those early edits were made when I was curious about Wikipedia. I was on a public terminal at the time, and Wikipedia was considered trendy by people I knew (as explained above), they introduced me to it! The rest of the edits from that IP were made by different people, same for the last one quoted.

Another friend of mine (not the one who introduced me to the site,he used a different name on Wikipedia, and is now blocked indefinitely) suggested I get an account... said it was more secure that way!

I did... but not until October 2005! his was registered in September

He turned out to be a vandal, while I didn't..., well, got the account User:Bourne End, used it to report a vandal, lost the password, and interest for a while...

That's explained it all... and remember, just because you may know someone who vandalised Wikipedia, DOESN'T mean you are a vandal yourself..

[edit] My experiences with MediaWiki

I first got into MediaWiki in early 2006: I downloaded a copy of Apache for myself, and tried various PHP scripts, and also found MediaWiki as well.... I was using version 1.5.0 at the time, and set up my own private copy.

I'm trying to write extensions, well, I'm still learning, so email me if you have any advice on writing some! Still trying to learn PHP!

[edit] Explanation of my username

My username comes from one of my business systems and web design projects I did at university; the name I chose was "SunStar" as I had a copy of The Sun and one of The Daily Star on me at the time!
