Sunrise Radio is the United Kingdom's first Independent Local Radio station catering specifically for the Asian community. It initially broadcast in London on 1413 kHz. Now on 1458 KHz from the Brookmans_Park_Transmitter north of London.
Sunrise also broadcasts to Coventry, Wolverhampton, Edinburgh and Glasgow and is also available on Cable, Sky channel 0133 and on DAB nationally.
It describes itself as "the Greatest Asian Radio Station in the World", a slogan that features prominently on its easy to remember jingles.
Dr Avtar Lit is Chairman of the Sunrise Radio Group.
Sunrise Radio started as a pirate radio station in London, in the 1980's [1]
