"Sunny Afternoon" is a song by The Kinks, written by chief songwriter Ray Davies [1]. The track featured on the Face to Face album, with a run time of 3:36. Released as a single in July 1966, it went to number 1 on the UK charts on 7 July 1966, remaining there for two weeks. The track also went to number 1 in Ireland on 18 July 1966. "Sunny Afternoon" featured in The 200 Greatest Songs of the 1960s as compiled by Pitchfork Media.

The song has been covered by the Stereophonics, featuring on their live DVD, Live at Morfa Stadium, and by former Space singer Tommy Scott on Tom Jones' cover album, Reload. It was also covered by Jimmy Buffett on his 1994 album Fruitcakes, the second classic rock cover on the album (the first being the Grateful Dead's "Uncle John's Band").
