Sungkyun Language Institute is a semi-autonomous division of Sungkyunkwan University. English, Japanese, Mandarin, French and Korean are all taught, though some of these, including Korean, are not taught at the Suwon campus. There are 18 lecturers of Korean and in the spring semester of 2007 another foreign English lecturer will be hired at the Suwon campus, taking the number of foreign lecturers there to 14.
Both credit and non-credit classes are taught. The English credit courses are chiefly in Academic Writing and Academic Presentations, though there are also classes in Business English, English for Scientific Purposes, and English Literature. Non-credit classes are typically less specialised, and are therefore more typical of ESL environments.
