The original cover for Sunday Love |
Sunday Love is Fefe Dobson's sophomore album. Co-writers and producers include Billy Steinberg, Matthew Wilder, John5 and ex- Veruca Salt member Nina Gordon (who also did backing vocals for some tracks). Though it is considered to be her "Love Kills" album, she states it is also about her growth in music. She wanted to put as much 80's pop and 90's punch into the record to give it a sort of retro feel from today's pop-rock music. "Sunday Love is just about chillin and relaxing and enjoying every possible aspect of this career and my life now."
It was first scheduled to be released on September 20, 2005, but was soon changed to October 25, 2005. Soon after it was rescheduled for February 7, 2006. According to Fefe, she wanted to go to the studio and finish some last few things that she felt weren't quite right. In January 2006 it was announced that Sunday Love would not be released until May 2, 2006. The reason was that Sunday Love was to be promoted alongside the novel "Inside The Mind Of Gideon Rayburn", which was released in May. However, only a month later the album was postponed again until June 20. The title of the album is Sunday Love, and was named in tribute to Fefe's mother. The first single Don't Let It Go To Your Head and the second was This Is My Life; both flopped commercially.
The album cover changed during the back-to-the-studio process. Fefe felt that the previous cover reflected a person she no longer was. It was changed to suit the image she felt was best. Fefe Dobson's plans to release her new album "Sunday Love" on June 20th were cancelled once again, due to Fefe being dropped from Island Records. The album remains unreleased as she was unable to obtain rights. It was reported that even though the album was cancelled, many people found the album in stores, mostly at Target as Target had a bonus track, and due to the accidental release by some stores, the album has been leaked onto internet. However, other than the 2 singles, the song "Be Strong" appears on the It's A Boy Girl Thing soundtrack.
