Sunday League (game)

From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Sunday League is a turn-based, browser-based, text-based, online multiplayer football (soccer) strategy game where you assume the role of a manager and compete against other managers in both divisional and exhibition play. Operated by London-based CatGames, Sunday League is played directly from a web browser.

Sunday League was the first in CatGames' series of online sports management games. Senior League Hockey, Bush League Baseball and others have since followed.

[edit] Overview

Rather than the usual method of picking a squad of real players from league teams and scoring points based on their results, Sunday League involves a more hands-on approach. Users (managers) take control of an amateur Sunday league football team (as the game's name implies) and are able to change the name of any or all players, as well as select from a variety of cartoon "faces".

Managers' responsibilities include training players and give them tactics for matches against other teams as well as conducting transfers (see below).

[edit] Credits and cost

Sunday League is free to play, but utilizes a system of credits which can be used to bid on new players from a Transfer Market. A player brought in on a transfer must replace a player already on the roster. Credits may also be used to join additional tournaments and to buy training for players.

[edit] Affiliates

Many professional football clubs are associated with Sunday League and have their own page on their club website so that users can play with their fellow fans.
