Sunday Half Hour

From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Sunday Half Hour is a long standing show broadcast on BBC Radio 2 in the United Kingdom.

It is broadcast on Sunday evenings between 8:30pm and 9:00pm and focuses on Christian hymns and prayer. The show is the only remaining Christian based show remaining on Radio 2, except for Good Morning Sunday. Each week the show consists of hymns from the "featured choir" whilst the prayers and discussion are based on a certain theme (e.g. The Family).

It was first broadcast in 1940; for its first fifty years a large number of presenters took part but since September 1990 its regular presenter has been Canon Roger Royle. In March 2007 it was announced that Roger Royle is to retire from the show on Easter Sunday, 8 April. There is no news yet about the programme's future
