Sunburst is the name of two fictional Japanese superheroes published by DC Comics. Sunburst first appeared in New Adventures of Superboy #45 (September 1983), and was created by Paul Kupperberg and Alex Saviuk.

[edit] Takeo Sato
Takeo Sato gained the ability to turn solar energy into light or heat and became a celebrity and movie star. As seen in New Adventures of Superboy 45 - 47. During the Crisis, he united with Dr. Light and Rising Sun to save the Earth from Anti-Monitor. He was slain in battle, but he was victorious nonetheless.
[edit] Celebrity Sunburst
In Grant Morrison's run of the Doom Patrol series, he wrote in a new version of Sunburst.This version proclaimed himself to be one of Japan's "greatest super heroes" and was constantly trailed by the media. He even had his own show and manga, "The Adventures of the New Sunburst". This Sunburst was responsible for bringing in the woman who would later be know as the Quiz, before being ambushed by the Brotherhood of Dada and disgraced on national TV. He was then sucked into the living cyclone known as Frenzy and it is unknown if he survived and it is also unknown what connection he has, or had, with Takeo Sato. As seen in Doom Patrol vol. 2 #26 (September 1989).
