Location of Georgetown, Texas

Sun City Texas is a 5300-acre[1] age-restricted community located in Georgetown, Texas, USA, a suburb north of Austin off I-35. It is part of the chain of Sun City communities started by Del Webb. Residency is restricted to persons over age 55 and the community is generally oriented toward retirees.

Sun City Texas is mostly comprised of single family dwellings, but also has duplexes, townhomes, and apartment buildings. It is legal to drive golf cars on the streets in the development during daylight hours and most shopping has special parking slots for same. There are golf courses, hobby shops, pools, lakes for fishing, and many other recreational facilities. There are clubs for almost any interest or hobby including crafts, computers, sewing, cards, investments, and dancing. The community's close proximity to Southwestern University provides access to a variety of additional cultural activities. And, of course, the thriving city of Austin is nearby providing a variety of urban activities and the surrounding Hill Country region provides many opportunities for outdoor activities.

Although the community attracts residents from all over the country it has proved especially popular with retirees from the Upper Midwest because of the lower cost of living (and relatively mild climate).
