Summitville is a hamlet within Mamakating township located in Sullivan County, New York, USA. The postal ZIP code is 12781; the telephone exchange is predominantly 888 and overlayed 647 in Area code 845.
The village is located along U.S. Route 209.

Summitville was once a busy transportation hub. The name Summitville comes from the fact that the Delaware and Hudson Canal summit lies within the town of Summitville. Water runs downhill in both directions towards the Hudson River and the Delaware River.
Later the New York, Ontario and Western Railway, had a major station in Summitville. The O&W had a split off their main line that lead to branch lines heading towards Kingston, New York to the north and Port Jervis, New York to the south.

Summitville is located at 40°20′14″N, 85°38′35″W (40.337361, -85.642985)GR1. The hamlet is somewhat isolated, located in a valley between the Shawangunk Ridge to the east and the Catskill Mountains to the west. According to the United States Census Bureau, the town has a total area of 1.4 km² (0.5 mi²), all land.

As of the censusGR2 of 2000, there were 1,090 people, 420 households, and 304 families residing in the town. The population density was 779.4/km² (2,023.6/mi²). There were 437 housing units at an average density of 312.5/km² (811.3/mi²). The racial makeup of the town was 99.45% White, 0.28% African American, 0.09% Native American, 0.09% Asian, and 0.09% from two or more races. Hispanic or Latino of any race were 0.55% of the population.
There were 420 households out of which 35.0% had children under the age of 18 living with them, 59.8% were married couples living together, 9.5% had a female householder with no husband present, and 27.6% were non-families. 25.5% of all households were made up of individuals and 13.1% had someone living alone who was 65 years of age or older. The average household size was 2.60 and the average family size was 3.07.
In the town the population was spread out with 29.6% under the age of 18, 5.7% from 18 to 24, 30.8% from 25 to 44, 20.5% from 45 to 64, and 13.4% who were 65 years of age or older. The median age was 34 years. For every 100 females there were 92.6 males. For every 100 females age 18 and over, there were 90.3 males.
The median income for a household in the town was $37,303, and the median income for a family was $42,500. Males had a median income of $31,908 versus $23,382 for females. The per capita income for the town was $18,311. About 5.2% of families and 7.9% of the population were below the poverty line, including 14.6% of those under age 18 and 8.8% of those age 65 or over.
