Summer Hill is the base for Himachal Pradesh University. It offers mainly Post Graduate Programmes in the fields of Humanities, Commerce, Science, Management, Law and Languages. Campus was started in 1975.

It has very good facilities for the boarders. Special hostels for women are provided.

It is about 5 kms from the main town of Shimla and is easily accessible by road, rail and air. Most students walk to the Hill Station of Shimla from the campus.
