[edit] Trivia
- This was the third straight Summerslam in which the Hart Foundation wrestled against the then reigning WWF World Tag Team Champions.
- Brutus Beefcake was originally supposed to be the challenger for the Intercontinental Championship but had to be pulled out of the match after suffering a parasailing accident.
- This was the first PPV since SummerSlam '88 that Jesse "The Body" Ventura was not the color commentator. Ventura had left the WWF shortly before this event after a pay dispute with Vince McMahon. This was also a rare PPV from this era called by McMahon, who usually chose to produce the shows from backstage.
