[edit] About

Key tenets of the Sumkidz organization are a concentration on teaching elements of harm reduction and the promotion of volunteerism within youth communities. Promotion of the arts and electronic music as well as social justice, human rights, environmental awareness has led to the development of an "edutainment" ethic that continues to shape Sumkidz events.

Sumkidz projects currently underway:

DubBus: The collective currently owns and operates a big green bus which is used to support various Sumkidz and Sumkidz-affiliated events. We hope to convert the bus so that it can be fully run on biodiesel. Sumkidz plans to raise the necessary funds to take the bus on tour around Canadian and US cities to promote clean energy, environmental awareness, arts and music.

Re:Union: A week long outdoor music festival featuring multiple stages, a community kitchen, holistic workshops and healing treatments.

Land Trust: Sumkidz aims to purchase land to host its Re:Union festival and to make possible the establishment of a sustainable community space. Possible land projects include an organic garden, reforestation, and other agricultural uses.

CafeLibre: A coffee shop selling fair trade and organic coffee and other yummy goodies.

Non Profit: Sumkidz is currently in the process of registering Sumkidz Inc. as a non profit so that they may take advantage of government funding programs to further the progress of Sumkidz projects.
