Sumas 2
From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
Sumas 2 is a proposal for an additional "co-generation" electric power plant in the town of Sumas, Washington near the Canadian border. It is called "co-generation" because excess heat from the plant will be used for other industrial purposes; in this case, for a wood products processing company.
There is already a co-generation plant in Sumas. This proposal would add a second plant. This proposal is considered controversial because it burns natural gas to generate power and the resulting pollutants would drift up the valley, adding to pollution already generated by populations in Abbotsford BC and pollution drifting in from the Vancouver BC metro area.
