Sullivan South High School (commonly known as SSHS or Sullivan South) is a public high school(grades 9-12) located in Kingsport, Tennessee in Sullivan County. The school has a student body of approximately 1,000 students.
Greg Harvey is the school's principal.
The school had a 79% graduation rate in 2004, well short of the state goal of 90%. [1]. The average ACT scores of students is a 21.6. 82.6% of students attended either a two-year or four-year university [2]. It is also accredited by the Southern Association of Colleges and Schools and is a member of the TSSAA.

Sullivan South implements a block schedule with four 90-minute periods a day. Students register for new classes each semester, allowing for 8 credits to be taken each academic year.

+Note: Sullivan South participates in the Jumpstart program with Northeast State Community College. This program allows seniors to take classes for both high school and college credit in the areas of English IV and Humanities/Psychology.
Sullivan South is also home to one of the most advanced theatre groups of the region, with more than 80% of students registering to participate in the school's various drama-oriented courses. Simularly, the school's music program has also garnered much praise, with an award winning instrumental music department, as well as an accomplished vocal music department.
Sullivan South also has an Air Force JROTC Program.
Sullivan south has no valedictorians, with all students with a 4.0 GPA being ranked as #1.

As of the 2003-2004 school year[3], 97.5% of the student's 1,104 students is listed as White, with African Americans, Hispanic, Asian, Native American, and Pacific Islander populations each under 1%. The two communities from which the students come from are both White majority. The two schools which contributed to the formation of Sullivan South were at the time rural communities. One of the communities has become a suburban type, while the other remains rural. The majority of African Americans and other minorities live within the city limits of Kingsport and attend the city school Dobyns-Bennett.
Sullivan South was rated as having an attendance rate of 94.9% in both 2003 and 2004.
The Rebels won their confrence for the second straight year in football and had 2 players named to the Tennessee Football Coaching Association 4 A All State team, Curt Philips and Justin Dykes. Additionally Curt Phillips and Justin Kitzmiller were named to the Tennessee Sports Writers Association 4 A All State team. Phillips was the Player of the Year in the Mountain Lakes Conference after passing and running for 3,000 yards, while Dykes shared Defensive Player of the Year honors with Bryant for the conference. Phillips and Dykes and Kitzmiller led South to a second-straight Mountain Lakes Conference title.
Phillips hit 138 of 223 passers for 2,219 yards and 25 TDs with just 6 ints, w hile running for another 739 yards and 14 TDs. Kitzmiller was his leading receiver with 45 catches. Dykes dominated on defense and also ran the ball in short-yardage situations on offense and scored twice.
