Sulfur monoxide
From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
Sulfur monoxide is a chemical compound with formula SO and CAS number 13827-32-2. It is an unstable species that forms when monatomic oxygen reacts with sulfur (2O + S2 → 2SO).
It is produced in experiments of sonoluminescence if sulfuric acid is used instead of water.
Sulfur monoxide occurs naturally in the plasma torus of Io and interstellar space.
