Born on September 18, 1964 in Zgharta, Lebanon. His father Tony Frangieh was killed by his allies who tried to take over his Zgharta based Marada Brigade. Suleiman Franjieh II was at his grandfather’s house when his father, mother and sister were killed in their summer retreat in Ehden at 4am.

Suleiman was around 5 years old when his family was killed, he was bought up by his grandfather and his paternal uncle. He would have been killed if he was not with his grand father that night.

The attack divided the Lebanese Front and the Kataeb failed to take over the Marada Brigades of the north.

After the death of his father, his grandfather who had always been considerably pro Syrian; a relationship that goes back to a time before Hafez Al-Assad had become president of Syria, he had also now lost any association he previously had with his sons murderers. The Kataeb denied carrying out the killing.

Suleiman Frangieh Jr who inherited some of his families powerful political status has been in several positions of power in Lebanese politics, he more recently became Minister of the Interior from 2004 to 2005 during which the assassination of Rafik Hariri took place. Many of the Hariri's followers accuse Farngieh of having a hand in this perhaps the highst profile political assassination in Lebanon history. Suleiman II, after his defeat in the 2005 elections, has sided with Michel Aoun.
