SugoiCon is an anime convention in Cincinnati, Ohio. The first three SugoiCons were held in "Joe's garage." The first major gathering, SugoiCon IV took place at a now-gone convention center in 1996. About 150 attended SugoiCon IV. SugoiCon went back to "Joe's garage" for V-VII. In 2000, Southwestern Ohio Regional Animation became the non-profit organization to host SugoiCon as a public convention.
SugoiCon strongly believes in giving appreciation to the creative talents that bring anime to the world. As such, SugoiCon's guests have included production talents from Japan, including Takao Koyama, the chief writer for shows such as Dragonball and Saint Seiya. It is a resource-intensive venture that not all conventions are willing to commit to.
The programming at SugoiCon changes every year. Past activities at the convention included the video room, Steve Bennett's cel painting workshop, karaoke, and cosplay.
The founders of SugoiCon never decided if SugoiCon or Sugoi Con is official, so both are valid.
