Sugata Bose

Sugata Bose is the Gardiner Professor of History at Harvard University. He is the author of several books on the economic, social and political history of modern South Asia, and has pioneered work in historical studies emphasizing the centrality of the Indian Ocean.

Sugata Bose is the grandnephew of Netaji Subhas Chandra Bose and grandson of Nationalist leader Sarat Chandra Bose. His father Sisir Kumar Bose was a leading pediatrician of India and a freedom fighter and mother Krishna Bose is an academician and a member of the parliament. He is married to fellow historian Ayesha Jalal.
