Suffolk County Council

Suffolk County Council is the administrative authority for the county of Suffolk, England, providing a range of services under the control of elected county councillors that include education, planning, transport and streets, social services, public safety and more.

At present (January 2007), the council is run by a Conservative majority. At a time of budget cuts supposedly caused by lack of funding from central government, the councillors have seen fit to award themselves an increase in their allowances of more than 20%.

Services that have suffered cuts are:- - care for the elderly - the schools music provision - the performing arts
