Sufami Turbo

From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

The Sufami Turbo, often compared to the Aladdin Deck Enhancer was an accessory released by Bandai for Nintendo's Super Nintendo Entertainment System and was released in 1994. In principle, the accessory was to cheapen the cost of carts, by using cheaper media to play on the SNES (Much like the Famicom Disk System), but the catch was that there were two cartridge ports on the Sufami Turbo. If a player wanted to, the idea was that they could put their SD Robot Wars cart into the A slot, and then put, for example, the Sailor Moon cart into slot B and play a game that used both characters and a new game would be made from the two carts. If this worked with all games released is uncertain at this time. The accessory was not released widely, and is supported by (in order of emulation by) ZSNES (2003), SNES9X (2003), and bsnes (2007).
