In commerce, a Broker is a party that mediates between a Buyer and a Seller. A broker who also acts as a seller or as a buyer becomes a principal party to the deal. Distinguish agent: one who acts on behalf of a Principal. A brokerage is a firm that acts as a broker.


[edit] Telecommunications Brokers

Radio Broker - The broking of either ownership of radio stations, or the broking of radio advertising.

Telecommunications Broker - Although Telecommunications has many segments, a telecommunications broker is involved in broking either Telephone Services and/or provision of Internet Services.

Television Broker - The broking of one of: the ownership of radio stations, television advertising, or cable television services.

[edit] Broker vs. Agent

A telecommunications broker mediates the buying of telephone and internet services between the customer and one or more telecommunications service providers. The broker works to the benefit of both parties and may be reimbursed by one or both.

A telecommunications agent is in the employ of either the customer or the telecommunications service provider, and will act to ensure the best outcome for that party - the principal.

Some features of the service supplied by a telecommunications broker are:

2) Phone Bill Cost Recovery - Acting to retrieve amounts identified from an Audit (above).
3) Phone Plan Comparisons - Comparing telephone plan features to establish advantages and disadvantages between available telephone plans.
4) Data Plan Comparisons - Comparing internet connection plans and other data service offers.
5) Telecommunications Reports - Analysis and presentation of Past, Current and Future telecommunications requirements and options.

Note that many of these services are also provided by Telecommunications Agents.
