Subwavelength imaging

Subwavelength imaging is a unique imaging technique which allows visualization of features on the viewed object which are smaller than the wavelength of the photons in use. While previously thought to be physically impossible, subwavelength imaging has been made possible through the development of metamaterials. This is generally accomplished using a layer of metal such as gold or silver a few atoms thick, which acts as a superlens.
