[edit] History
Subtext was announced on May 4, 2005, but the first release (Subtext Nautilus Edition) wasn't announced until March 2, 2006.
Subtext releases are named based on a nautical theme, the latest being "Daedelus" (v1.9), an ASP.NET 2.0 upgrade. The next major release will be Version 2.0 - "Poseidon" and support a Plug-in Framework among other incremental improvements.
Subtext was founded as a fork of the BSD Licensed .Text blogging engine written by Scott Watermasysk. .Text went on to be packaged within the Community Server product by Telligent Systems.
Subtext is currently hosted on SourceForge and at the time of this writing, is ranked 31 most active out of 140,032 projects. It has from time to time been ranked in the top 15 projects.
