Subspecies is a series of Full Moon Pictures horror films that was released in the 1990s. They are low-budget horror films that spawned a cult following, as did many of Full Moon's other films.

Three college students embark on a journey through Transylvania to study urban myths and their impact on the culture. Meanwhile, two vampire brothers, Radu and Stefan, battle over the rights to the family Bloodstone and the love of one of the students.

[edit] Bloodstone: Subspecies II (1993)

Bloodstone picks up right where the original ended. Radu's evil subspecies have brought him back from the dead. Now, he's after Michelle, the beautiful young girl that escaped his grasp and stole the Bloodstone. Radu enlists the help of his Mummy (Mommy) to help retrieve the Bloodstone. Michelle, beginning to succumb to her vampire temptations, contacts her sister Becky for help, but the longer it takes the closer Radu is to making Michelle his own.

[edit] Bloodlust: Subspecies III (1994)

Bloodlust follows immediately after the storyline of Bloodstone ends. With Michelle trapped in the catacombs with Radu's Mummy and Radu's lifeless body, it is still up to Becky to get her out. With the help of Michelle's blood and a little magic, Radu's Mummy is successful in bringing her son back to life, and the evil Radu once again stalks the living. By now Michelle has accepted her new life, but her mission now is to save Becky's before Radu kills her.

[edit] Subspecies 4: Bloodstorm (1998)

Michelle has escaped Radu Vladislas. Found by a stranger named Ana, she is taken to a hospital where a doctor claims to be able to cure her vampirism. Radu, recovering from his near-death, delivered by Michelle and her friends, follows Michelle. He visits the vampire Ash's home. Ash and his own fledgling Serena plot to destroy Radu and employ the help of the humans, Ana and the doctor.

A vampire, who has taken it upon himself to rid the world of vampires, sets out to destroy the bloodline that cursed him to an eternity of darkness. Zachary stalks the deadly Ash, in hopes that he can exploit his weaknesses and slay the monster that now heads the bloodline that cursed him. Unfortunately, Zachary falls for a woman, the same woman that Ash is after. Zachary's quest comes a dramatic halt when he finds that has to choose to either save the girl or sacrifice her in hopes to kill Ash.
