Suai (Sway) Kee is a musician, songwriter, and multi-instrumentalist from Detroit, Michigan recently signed to the Motown/Universal records label. She is set to release her first album sometime in 2006.
[edit] Career
Suai, whose mother was also a musician, was composing music on the piano by age 14. Growing up she played flute, cello, piano, and guitar. In 2003, Suai performed at the unveiling of the restored Rosa Parks bus at the Henry Ford Museum. She competed against 40 other young people for the honor.
A graduate of Cranbrook Kingswood School in 2004 and a Detroit native, Suai launched her singing career with Detroit label Mophillin Records, cutting the single "Forever and a Day", a soul tune which earned her regional recognition and airplay on WJLB.
She currently performs every Saturday at the Rhino @ Harmonie Park on vocals with the Flexx Band. Her great performances include performing at the Charles H. Wright Museum of African American History, the African American World Festival, the opening for Brian McKnight at Jeorome-Duncan Ford Theatre, and a performance at Hope United Methodist Church.
