Suðurnes is a region in southwest Iceland. The region has a population of more than 16,000 and is one of the more densely populated parts of the island. The admistrative centre is Keflavík, which has 7000 residents and merged with the nearby town of Njarðvík several years ago to create a population of over 10 000, making it the second largest settlement outside of the greater Reykjavík area.
