Step 1: Create a citations section to the article

Step 2: Create a references section.

Step 3: In the references section, add a reference, e.g.,:

This will show up like this:

Step 4: In the article, write a sentence, and then cite it, like so:
- Jerry Johnson states that [[Albert Einstein|Einstein]] was smart.<ref>{{harvnb|Johnson|2006|p=23-24}}</ref>
