Stub may refer to:

  • A stub, mature tree cut above a height of 3-5 metres and retained as a standing stem following timber harvest, usually for wildlife or archaeological purposes. (All other meanings are metaphors of this.)
  • A method stub, in computer programming
  • A stub network, in computer networking
  • A stub (circuit), a calculated length section of transmission line used to match impedance in transmission lines
  • A piece of work of a greater calculation in distributed computing
  • A short railway or bus line
  • An unequal first or last interest calculation period, usually as a part of a swap contract
  • A pay stub, usually a receipt or record that the employer has paid their employee
  • A ticket stub, which, once a ticket is collected, is usually the remaining end of the ticket
  • Ambrosius Stub, a Danish poet
  • A docked tail of a dog is also known as a stub
