[edit] Plot

Stuart, born into the Little family, though not much bigger than a mouse, is good natured, thoughtful, practical, modest and courageous and goes through many adventures while living with his family in New York City. Eventually, he sets out on a journey to find his friend Margalo, a bird saved by Stuart's family. Stuart has many intriguing adventures on his journey to find his friend.

[edit] Notes

According to White, the idea for this story came in a dream while he was sleeping on the train. Many people were expecting a second book; however, it was never written. The reason for such an abrupt ending was White's hypochondria. He thought he was going to die soon, so he ended the book in order to get it published before his death.

In 2005 a book was published to celebrate the sixty years of Stuart Little. The book was in full color and hardbound.

[edit] Quote

"When Mrs. Frederick C. Little's second son arrived, everybody noticed that he was not much bigger than a mouse."
