Stuart Baxter (born August 16, 1953, Birmingham) is an English football manager.

He started his career as a footballer for Preston North End FC in 1968. He later decided to join Helsingborgs IF who play in Sweden, he then settled in Sweden as a coach. His greatest success was in 1998 when he led the AIK side to become Swedish champions.

He also coached the England u-19 national team.

In 2004 he was appointed manager of the South African national team, with a mandate to lead the team to theWorld Cup in Germany. His appointment was greeted with much scepticism in the South African press, who questioned the South African Football Association's choice of coach to lead the team out of a slump which had resulted in a first round exit from the African Nations Cup in 2004. After a turbulent period in charge, which was dogged by infighting between the South African Football Association and the coach, Baxter resigned from his post in November 2005 after the team failed to qualify for the World Cup. Much of the blame for the failure can to qualify can be attributed to the antics of the South African Football Association, whose continuous interference in basic managerial tasks such as team selection, had also previously also forced the premature departures of established coaches such Carlos Queiroz and Phillipe Trousier. His record with Bafana was P23, W10, D6, L7.

He started his job as the manager at Helsingborgs IF in autumn (2006).
