Stu Mittleman

From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Stu Mittleman stands out in the ultramarathon field for running 1,000 miles in 11 days, 20 hours 36 min. 56 sec. in 1986. He and his wife, Mary Beth, are the parents of two children, Beau and Mackenzie.

Extolled by peak performance expert Tony Robbins, Stu is himself an author and fitness trainer, having written Slow Burn: Slow Down, Burn Fat, and Unlock the Energy Within (ISBN 0-06-273674-4). The book is based upon three basic tenets:

  • Think: Attitude and focus as the foundation
  • Train: Run to create energy for life
  • Eat: Energize frequently with natural foods and plenty of water. The book proposes a semi-low carb nutrition regimen, using the metaphor of carbs being a car's battery and fat being the fuel, and with recommendations for snacks such as almonds and salads.

He currently resides in Southern California, where he runs WorldUltrafit, a fitness coaching and consulting firm.
